As Canada today celebrates the 10th anniversary of same-sex marriage (with North America’s first gay married couple renewing their vows today), Ireland’s gays this week began registering for (but not yet receiving) civil partnerships, paving the way for the nation’s first recognition of gay unions to begin in April. Ireland will, however, begin immediately recognizing gay marriages legally performed elsewhere.
