Three teenage boys (above) have been arrested and charged with kidnapping a hapless Grindr user at gunpoint and robbing him.
The teens used Grindr in order to find their mark — a 31-year-old victim from West Palm Beach.

After the victim drove to their location — the 200 block of Northwest Fourth Avenue — the three boys pushed their way into the car, pointed a gun at him and asked for his money.
A post by The Boynton Beach Police Department claims the teens made the victim drive to an ATM.

Upon exiting his car, the victim saw a chance to escape into a nearby business.
The teens fled while he called police, but they were later apprehended and charged with armed kidnapping and armed robbery.
They’re currently being held at the Juvenile Assessment Center.
Near the ATM machine, cops found BB guns lying in the bushes. They’re believed to be the weapons used to rob the man.

I do hope they are charged as adults
Stache
I hope they get charged as adults. Lock the fucks up for a good long time.
Captain Obvious
@Penelope Paige Barrington: Yeah like those cops who shoot unarmed teens or the guys who allowed 100,000 people to be poisoned by toxic water for at least 2 years. This is very important, the most important situation in America right now. No one will ever understand the white plight.
Glücklich
They *asked* for the guy’s money? “I know we’ve only just met but might you see your way to emptying your wallet, please? We’d appreciate it evahs’much.”
James Gutting
If Obama had three sons…
Aromaeus
No one was hurt so trying them as adults is a bit much. They need to be punished though just appropriately. If the 31 year old knew he was meeting up with a teenager he needs to be charged as well. Sicko.
RomanHans
@Aromaeus: @James Gutting: Well, I see two trolls are here. When we get a couple more we can call the meeting to order.
crowebobby
@Captain Obvious: I know, the gas chambers were a walk in the park compared to the tortures of the Spanish Inquisition, yet these whiny Jews keep complaining about them.
Gigi Gee
@Aromaeus: The fact that no one was hurt doesn’t matter. They tried to rod him. That’s a crime. They should be made to pay for their crime.
Daniel-Reader
Kudos to the police for being so quick to apprehend suspects and to deal with the case.
Daniel-Reader
That’s also why you take a clear picture of anyone you meet online and send it to a friend before letting them anywhere inside your car or home.
money718
@James Gutting: Shut the hell up.
joeyty
In cases like this all three might not be equally culpable. The ringleader is worse than the dope who just follows along. Then there’s prior records, if any, etc.
Brian
This is why guns are such a problem in the USA: they are so common, even a 15 year old can get one.
gscott
@James Gutting: Or if you had a brain.
martinbakman
The actual news article does not say the teens were on Grindr. They did force there way into his car around 9AM. That all sounds peculiar. I guess Grindr users must start their day early. Happy hunting!
o.codone
I hope he got a little bit of dick before handing over the cash. Wait, did I say “little”, wow, I’m sure that was just a mistake. I bet there’s more dick right there than he could handle. Personally I would do every one of them. Don’t think of this as rac*ist, think of it as the compliment that it is. A big, big, fat compliment.
Kangol
Well, they were caught, the victim wasn’t hurt, and they’ll be locked up for a good while so in this instance, the system worked.
BigG
Guess he didn’t have no blacks on his profile.
youarekiddingme
@Captain Obvious: Blah, Blah, Blah…Can you EVER focus on anything? I know it’s all a black white oppression thing right? Teen shooting in park by cop…we already went over that…what 10-20 times now? Can we bring him back? Can we change the fact that the replica gun (not just toy) had the orange tip removed? Can we change the fact that the local residents called the police? It was a horrible, senseless tragedy, which in the state that I live in it has been illegal to possess replica guns without the orange safety tips. It’s also illegal and same punishment to use them in a robbery or other crime.
I could bring up several stories (of a racial nature) that have no bearing on this or any other story. The fact that other crimes occurred to other races at other times does that then excuse what these young men are accused of doing? Aren’t they then responsible for their own actions? Isn’t that the lesson we want our young people to learn?
History. If we don’t learn from it…we are doomed to repeat it.

Thanks Obama!
meghanada
Can anyone explain to me where vile idiot @Captain Obvious: is coming from? Is he actually trying to make little of a kidnapping of a gay man, I guess due to the criminals’ complexion?
youarekiddingme
@meghanada: You got it!
Captain Obvious
@youarekiddingme: Oh hi, Giancarlo, if you’re gonna post on multiple accounts all the time you should try to sound like a different person on each account. Get more worked up about my posts. 🙂
youarekiddingme
@Captain Obvious: Apparently I’m not the only one who sees your “vile” postings huh? Not Giancarlo…read a little better…it’s the same response I gave you the last time you posted your “replica” gun vitriol.
For someone who throws race around on EVERYTHING, its ironic how you use a white male icon to post with your account…..hmmmn
meghanada
@Captain Obvious: Your first reaction at a person calling for justice against criminals targeting gay men is to make little of the crime. It shouldn’t matter the identity of the people calling you out, if it is Giancarlo or not – it should matter that you listen and drop the pseudo-moralistic trolling.
If you think so little of the oppression gay people face, how about stop following gay media altogether, where gay issues are understandably the main debate topic – or are you too addicted to the thrill of preaching to gay people that their problems are not worth anyone’s outrage?
joeyty
Some of you folks are making too much of this. It’s not a case of racism or homophobia (unless there are some indirect aspects of those as factors, but..), it’s just crime : three juvenile delinquents taking the opportunity to rob somebody. A good reminder that there’s always some danger in hookups.
meghanada
@joeyty: Yeah, I’m sure their victim choices – men picked off of Grindr – was a pure coincidence. Not at all homophobia. Because I’m sure you know what’s inside thugs’ mind very well. You should talk to their lawyer to be their defense witness.
Sluggo2007
@Captain Obvious: Why don’t you just STFU, you sanctimonious douchebag!
Sluggo2007
Gee. How did I know what they looked like before I scrolled down to the pictures?
James Sigmon
Like ins aid fake people in Grndr
joeyty
@meghanada: Well…I AM a thug..
Kangol
@joeyty: Thank you. The last time Queerty posted about a white criminal robbing or killing someone the gay victim met on Grindr, I don’t think there was a single mention of race. Nothing.
his post, however, has sparked vicious [email protected] commentary because the perpetrators are black. As I said above, it was a robbery. The victim seems to be physically OK, and the perps were ALL CAUGHT, so justice worked.
But the [email protected] and white supremacist vitriol of many of the white gay (or bi or straight trolling) people on this site never ceases to amaze me.
Queerty gets a hat tip, though, for knowing how to spur page views.
joeyty
@Kangol:@Kangol: Well…I’m an admitted r—st, but even I don’t see much significance in the perps’ race in this case. The victim might have been Af Am for all we know, anyway. As far as choosing a gay man for the target….who else is going to go meet a stranger at that hour? (And that’s not criticizing the gay guy either).
Merv
I can’t figure out whether or not Captain Obvious is a parody. Armed robbers in Florida should go free because of toxic drinking water in Michigan. Makes perfect sense. He also thinks that all 50+ Cosby accusers are engaged in a giant conspiracy because they want to take down the Bill Cosby (whom nobody had heard from in 15 years), like there aren’t more relevant wealthy black people to pick on right now.
joeyty
@Merv: I don’t think he’s excusing Cosby or saying criminals like these three should go free, just that he thinks the reactions to crimes, by both the public and the press, differ when it comes to race (being harsher on black people).
Daniel Moroni

I truly hope they fry. I’m tired of always hearing about these kinds of things. To the LGBT Community. PLEASE SAFE OUT THERE.
Captain Obvious
@joeyty: Thanks lol, pretty sure these people are trolls though. The times you see these usernames they’re always spouting something at a person instead of staying on topic. Even the lame insults are the same. Couldn’t care less how much they crap themselves over my honest posts, but thanks for clarifying anyway. I didn’t really care enough to honestly.
I was actually going to make a post about hoping justice gets served until I saw the usual animosity reserved for blacks on this site. Not really worth getting into it with these trolls they(he) has an agenda and no life to speak of.
joeyty
@Captain Obvious: What’s fair is fair, and…whether I agree with you or not…I don’t like seeing someone totally misrepresented like that.
Merv
@joeyty: Except he really does think Cosby is the target of a vast conspiracy. Ask him yourself.
joeyty
@Merv: Okay…well, if he believes that then I disagree with him. But I understand the general point of view he’s taking.
meghanada
@joeyty:
Well, the word choice (“thug”) is yours but thanks for confirming my initial impression that racial tribalism on the part of the likes of your is overriding sympathy with the victims of homophobic crimes.
meghanada
@Captain Obvious:
“The times you see these usernames they’re always spouting something at a person instead of staying on topic”
That’s precious coming from someone who first reacted to this story by detracting from the topic, talking about the water in Michigan and ‘bad cops’.
@joeyty:
“But I understand the general point of view he’s taking.”
Come explain it to us, then – what is his “general point”? that we shouldn’t ever debate Black perpetrators of violent crimes, including homophobic crimes, because There Are Worse Things Out There?
Black Pegasus
Oh look, Queerty finally has a story that features Black men on the first page.
joeyty
@meghanada: Actually I’m white but…. if race/homophobia/etc is a pet issue with Captain Obvious…that’s fine. We all have issues and topics that irk us more than others. Maybe that’s as it should be, so everything everywhere is covered. I don’t even necessarilly agree with him. And even if he sometimes overreaches, so what ? This isn’t North Korea where you’re punished for your thoughts.
Captain Obvious
@joeyty: Notice how multiple accounts go on and in about my “posting history”? The same pathetic insults, the same obsession with my personal opinions, and the same tired vendetta. Normal posters don’t do this.
It’s Giancarlo aka Jason still spamming away but since people saw through his latest main account and never back him up he decided to talk to himself like a literal crazy person.
I said I don’t believe Cosby raped anyone and that it can’t be proven either way. How terrible. Definitely worth bringing up across multiple threads.
He’s a sad little troll who can’t grasp a simple post about disproportionate race based punishments for the same or similar crimes. People hoping the lives of some black teens are ruined while grown white adults get off for heinous crimes involving murder(and lately brain damage) where’s the outrage over that?
On the subject of Cosby a comparable actor the father from 7th Heaven is not nor will he ever be pursued when there is evidence that he is in fact an admitted pedophile. Apparently that isn’t as important as rabidly perusing accusers with no evidence beyond mutual recreational drug use.
I don’t want to defend anyone in any of these scenarios but when I see nonsensical outrage directed at one group based on color and total acceptance of injustice when the perpetrator is white(usually if the victim is non-white or poor white) I call it out.
Anyway it’s very obvious the same person is posting repeatedly on separate accounts so it’s worth a giggle. This was all a very entertaining read despite the subject matter. The harder he tries to bother me the funnier it gets. A blog comment section isn’t worth all the nonstop enraged posting he does. He seems most focused on me because I always know when he’s on a ton of accounts. He loves to break them out for me. A lot of effort put into that trolling.
Back to my popcorn and movie. 😉
Merv
It’s fine if Captain Obvious has different views on crime and punishment than I do. But, he’ll still get called on it if he uses irrational arguments to reach his conclusions. I don’t know or care what his race is.
Merv
@Captain Obvious: As far as I know, in the case of the 7th Heaven actor there are no prosecutable cases (statute of limitations) in which women are willing to come forward. That’s not the case with Cosby.
Computerboy
@o.codone: Sleeping with teenage boys is a crime.
Stache
@Computerboy:Plus, no sympathy for the so called victim if he knew they were teenagers in advance.
youarekiddingme
@Captain Obvious: Since you are so concerned over the water crisis in my home state I thought you might like to know how you and other readers can donate water for the kids out here in Flint can get clean water. Here’s a link: http://www.cfgf.org
The residents would appreciate any assistance that you could give.
The reason (by the way) that no one has been charged or arrested in this water scandal Captain Obvious is something called an ongoing investigation. Here’s the link to that as well: http://www.cnn.com/2016/01/15/health/flint-michigan-water-crisis/
Since this incident is happening in my “backyard” so to speak it’s difficult to hear you throw mud around about what is or is not being done about it. Come on out and help us out. At least go to the site and donate a few bucks to help out the kids who need some clean water.
dwes09
@James Gutting: If Obama had three sons, they would be better looking, more well educated and certainly more gracious than you. You’re clearly a hetero-ass.
dwes09
@Sluggo2007: Uh, baseless assumptions on your part? There is IN FACT no way to know the appearance of criminals before you see a picture, and had they been other than black, you simply would not have made your pointless post. Get a brain, they are very useful.
