Love won

That time a police officer broke ranks with his colleagues to propose to his boyfriend at Pride

It’s been two years since the historic Obergefell v. Hodges Supreme Court ruling made same-sex marriage the law of the land across the United States. To mark the occasion, we’re revisiting our favorite marriage stories to remind the world that love is love.

Last summer, with tens of thousands of people watching, a squad of British police officers marching in the 2016 London Pride parade stopped suddenly and without warning when one of the constables ducked out of the formation.

The bobby walked over to the partition where his boyfriend stood among the crowd on onlookers. Without skipping a beat, he got down on one knee and proposed.

Video of the happy moment spread faster than rhubarb flavored jam from Yorkshire.
