When openly gay man Tommy Bennett began working for Reverend Jesse Jackson’s Rainbow PUSH Coalition, he allegedly began experiencing anti-gay discrimination. First, Bennett claims that a membership and volunteer coordinator refused to work with him. Then he says that the Reverend himself cursed at him in front of his co-workers, had Bennett regularly clean up after his hotel romps, and even wanted Bennett to perform oral sex on him. Uh… what?
During his two years of service Bennett alleges that the PUSH superiors ignored his complaints and that they eventually fired him for being gay.
One should note that Jackson has long supported LGBT and HIV/AIDS issues and that this is reportedly the first time he’s ever been accused of anti-gay discrimination.
Bennett is now suing for $98,300 in lost income and benefits and $350,000 for emotional distress and other damages. But as a previous member of President Obama’s LGBT leadership council and a gay gossip personality on The Tom Joyner Morning Show, Bennett should just publish a tell-all book instead of suing—he’d make a heck of a lot more money that way.

This is the same Jesse Jackson who had a mistress on the side who bore his child? Sorry. But I don’t believe that Jackson is a closet case, bi or gay. Given Jackson’s many enemies, that news would have come out a long time ago.

I agree it most likely would have come out already. However just because one has supported the community in the past, does not qualify them for an automatic pass.
