Tony Ward Was One Sexy Hooker Who Could Drive Men Crazy

unnamed-1There are so many reasons to be envious of gay millennials: they grew up in a more accepting society, their taut skin, their effortlessly trim physiques, getting to discover Tony Ward and his fabulously phallic, Romanesque nose for the first time…

If you came of sexual age before the mid-1990s, it’s likely that you’re not only familiar with Ward, but you probably had a few sexual fantasies about the ridiculously handsome actor-model. He was ubiquitous for a period, working as a muse for top photographers, appearing as an object of lust in music videos for Belinda Carlisle and one-time girlfriend Madonna and even posing for provocative pics in her Madgesty’s then-shocking Sex book.

It’s little wonder that queer filmmaker Bruce LaBruce cast him as a heartthrob in Hustler White, his 1996 satirical reimagining of the Billy Wilder classic Sunset Boulevard. As an angel-faced hooker named Montgomery Ward (really), Tony frolics with real-life hustlers and becomes the object of fascination for lovelorn anthropologist Jurgen Anger (LaBruce). While technically a romantic comedy in the very loosest sense of that term, this film isn’t for the faint of heart, to put it quite mildly. There’s graphic depiction of numerous fetishes, including mummification and a controversial amputee sex scene, but there’s also the stunning youthful beauty of Ward to recommend it.

Hustler White will be available on Blu-ray for the first time April 14. Watch a new trailer for the release below and scroll down to see a few more stills from the film.
