Ahead of the 1994 Winter Olympics in Lillehammer, figure skater Nancy Kerrigan suffered a broken leg, threatening to keep her out of the games. (It didn’t.)

The culprits, fellow U.S. skater Tonya Harding’s ex-husband Jeff Gillooly and bodyguard Shawn Eckhardt, were soon caught.

The scandal rocked the world, but how much do you really know about the bizarre story besides these few facts?

A new film called I, Tonya sets out to fill in the gaps, and it’s a truly insane tale.
