If you take a look over at our clever new QueerFeed, you’ll see that this morning we reported on Touro College’s banishment of the gay-straight alliance because of religious contradictions. Dozens of students protested. Now, administrators are saying, “Whoops! It was all a misunderstanding.”
While it may be nice to think that the students instigated the turn around, it probably has more to do with city officials threatening a delay in construction of new buildings. Sure, a little discouraging, but we’ve always wanted a construction worker on our back.

Guess they missed the Advocate College Guide for LGBT. Now that we have a ranking for lesbian/gay clubs in higher education, administrators have to be more mindful in their policy decisions. Brandeis is currently beginning to spread awareness about Transgender issues. It’s a slow go, but the students drive initiative. It has always been a welcoming environment, but this is a new hurdle that many schools will have to face coming up.
