Is Victoria’s Secret ready to open the celestial gates and add a transgender Angel to the chorus? A Change.org petition is calling for the ladies lingerie line to cast Carmen Carrera as its first openly trans model.
Carrera, an alum of RuPaul’s Drag Race, transitioned after completing shooting on Season 3 of the popular reality show and has since gone on to model for W Magazine and speak out as an advocate for trans rights.
Not to mention, she also recently slayed the runway for Marco Marco during L.A. Fashion Week, so Ms. Carrera’s credentials are clearly in order.
And the body is what?
How about we take this to the next level?

Yes. Yes it is, Latrice.
We’re talking more figure than an eight and more cheesecake than a Golden Girls marathon on Oxygen. But Carrera’s obvious fierceness aside, the author of the petition — Marco Regalado — emphasized what a profound statement Victoria’s Secret would be making in hiring the trans beauty:
By making Carmen the very first trans supermodel, you will help to end femmephobia within the LGBTIQQA community, but also it will show the entire trans community that you embrace them as your patrons.
Amen. So far the petition has garnered thousands of signatures — click here to add yours to the list. And click here to vote for Carmen as the Next Big Queer in the 2013 Queerties.
