Trump’s #sharpiegate has been immortalized for posterity in memes

After lying on Twitter by saying Hurricane Dorian was going to hit Alabama, prompting the National Weather Service to rush out a statement assuring people that “no impacts from Hurricane Dorian will be felt across Alabama,” Donald Trump held a televised Oval Office presentation where he allegedly used a black Sharpie to draw over an official National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration map to include Alabama in Dorian’s trajectory.

The Washington Post reports Trump was the one to alter the map, a charge he denies. When asked by a reporter about whether the black line over Alabama was made with a Sharpie, known to be Trump’s preferred writing utensil, the president replied, “I don’t know. I don’t know. I don’t know.” The incident has since become known as #sharpiegate.
