It’s obvious that we all enjoy a very well known television show that goes by the name of RuPaul’s Drag Race, but there is a little gem that hasn’t quite been given the attention it deserves. There is an online version of this popular television series on Tumblr, called ‘Tumblr’s Drag Race,’ which is currently in it’s fifth cycle.
How it Works
The format is similar to that of RuPaul’s Drag Race… Each week, the queens compete in a mini challenge and a main challenge, then, by the end of the week, the one queen is eliminated.
How about we take this to the next level?
Our newsletter is like a refreshing cocktail (or mocktail) of LGBTQ+ entertainment and pop culture, served up with a side of eye-candy.
This cycle, thirteen queens were chosen as contestants through auditions that spawned from an open casting call. Challenges range from designing costumes to filming funny videos and more.
For every mini-challenge a contestant wins, a silver star is added to their body photo on the blogs banner, and a gold star is added for main challenge wins.
When a queen is eliminated, their body photo is changed to black and white, while the remaining contestants’ photos stay in color.
There is also a score card that is posted each week, that allows you to keep up with scores in the competition.
The current cycle, as of now, is down to the final four, but it’s not too late to for you to follow the blog on Tumblr and root for your favorite contestant at tdrcycle05.tumblr.com. Check out the remaining contestants below.
Tumblr’s Drag Race has been around for quite some time, but with cycle six fast approaching, it’s time for it to have a bit of well-deserved exposure. If you’re an amateur drag queen interested in being a future contestant, stick around for cycle six of Tumblr’s Drag Race and get your auditions in when the time comes!
