Turns out Taylor Swift’s new song just needed to be mashed up with Britney Spears’ “Toxic”

You’d be forgiven for thinking Taylor Swift’s new single “Look What You Made You Do” erred on the underwhelming side, but turns out it’s the perfect musical bed on which to lay Britney Spears’ “Toxic,” which perfectly fills in the abundant blanks, adding enough drama and melody that you start forgiving and forgetting the limp Right Said Fred sample.

A young producer by the name of Andy Wu MusicLand has taken it upon himself to mash up the two tracks — and the two videos — to make something wholly new and entirely listenable; two qualities “Look What You Made Me Do” conspicuously lacks when played naked and all on its own.

Maybe all the world’s problems can be fixed by simply plopping Britney Spear’s “Toxic” on top of them, but we’ll have to test that theory out one step at at a time. This is Step One.
