Who is Joanne? What does it all mean? And will the songs get better than the first single “Perfect Illusion”?
These are just some of the burning questions we, and the internet’s furthest reaches, have about Lady Gaga‘s forthcoming sixth album.
Well as for the “who,” Gaga has revealed that Joanne is named after her father Joe Germanotta’s sister, Joanne Germanotta, who died from lupus at the all-too-early age of 19. Gaga’s middle name is also Joanne.
“She is the woman of my past, helping me bring more of my honest-woman self to the future,” she said in a radio interview.
How about we take this to the next level?
Our newsletter is like a refreshing cocktail (or mocktail) of LGBTQ+ entertainment and pop culture, served up with a side of eye-candy.
Well since the album doesn’t come out until October 21st, for now all we have is “Perfect Illusion,” as well as a truckload of reactions on Twitter.

PRINCE OF SNARKNESS aka DIVKID
Frank Ocean’s album didn’t get this much coverage. Mykii Blanco’s imminent release has gotten no coverage. The film Moonlight has gotten no coverage. Like them or not these are legitametly buzzworthy GAY cultural artefacts. Carry on with the shallow.
PRINCE OF SNARKNESS aka DIVKID
And I’m not saying she shouldn’t get some mention or that she doesn’t have some gay male following.. but Jesusfuckingchrist

@PRINCE OF SNARKNESS aka DIVKID: Hey Prince, here are some posts you may have missed about Frank Ocean’s album (I’m a big fan):

I’ll check out Mykki Blanco’s upcoming release and Moonlight.

@PRINCE OF SNARKNESS aka DIVKID: Queerty often drops the ball on art and culture by people of color (there’s almost zlich on here about queer latinxs or asian americans, and way too many negative posts about black queer people), BUT they did cover dreamboat Frank Ocean’s new album. I’d much rather see more about Lady Gaga, who’s a total gay ally, than Russell Tovey, who trashes effeminate gay men, and basic coverage about LGBTQs across the globe rather than these endless Reddit-based “straight” guy articles, but it’s not my site, it’s Queerty’s. Hoping they’ll write about *Moonlight* too!
PRINCE OF SNARKNESS aka DIVKID
@Dan Tracer: Thanks for responding, Dan. But you didn’t cover “Blonde” per se and more importantly it’s “queer” cultural significance while many ostensibly straight sites did (just as easily C&P-able) . Hell, knowing how much you love Reddit and str8 guys ;P there are numerous posts there abour how they’d go gay for Frank LOL. On how they feel really protective of him and but want to cuddle him. Silly as that sounds it’s kinda lowkey momentous. And ignoring the gay significance of the Nikes video — one of the best videos of the year to boot — is pretty fucking myopic. Plus this was one of the very last places to cover this news. How can that be? But again thanks for responding that at least gives me hope.
@Kangol: You never knowingly turn down an opputunity to crucify masc messiah Tovey (peace be upon Him) LOL.
I hope it really is as Oscar worthy as their saying and not just hype.

We love Lady GaGa so please keep writing more articles about her.

She will have to keep reinventing herself probably as they say. When I saw her sing the sound of music I thought, this is when ahe changes from the meat dress and the egg stuff to ballads….or whatever. The Tony Bennett duets…..
