Two major beverage brands show their true colors for pride

Trumpeting LGBTQ visibility while tempting all those who enjoy a good drink, two major spirit brands have gone technicolor for pride.

Scion of beer production Budweiser has unveiled a new rainbow logo to accompany bottles of Bud Lite this pride season. Even better, for each bottle sold, the company will donate $1 to GLAAD, the Gay and Lesbian Alliance Against Discrimination.

“Bud Light has been a supporter of the LGBTI community since the 80s and we are excited to continue our long-standing partnership with GLAAD by collaborating with them on this new commemorative bottle that celebrates the LGBTI community and everything GLAAD does to support it,” Andy Goeler, Vice President of Marketing for Bud Light said in a statement.

Likewise, vodka brand Stoli announced a similar rebranding in honor of pride month. The new, limited-edition label will feature designs by queer visual artist Lisa Marie Thalhammer and will include iconography that pays tribute to the LGBTQ community. Proceeds from the sale of the bottles will also go to support LGBTQ charities.

“Pride is all about sticking up for something you believe in – just as the brave patrons of the Stonewall Inn did 50 years ago,” Stoli LGBTQ National Brand Manager and Ambassador, Patrik Gallineaux said in a statement. “Stoli celebrates the legacy of our gay bars, such as Stonewall, as the original community centers and safe spaces. It is a privilege to utilize our bottle as a platform for purposeful visibility and education via our second LGBTQ tribute bottle, the Stoli ‘Spirit of Stonewall’ limited edition.”

The new designs for Bud Lite and Stoli go on sale this month, just in time for the start of June.
