TX Woman Helps Police Locate Man Who Shot Her, Killed Girlfriend

Despite still recovering from brain injuries, Kristene Chapa—who was brutally shot in a Texas park in an attack that took the life of her girlfriend, Mollie Olgin—has been able to help police render a sketch of a suspect.

Chapa is still recovering in a hospital bed, ABC News reports, but asked to speak to police to help find her attacker. She called the police artist back a second time to provide more details.

“She wants very badly to help us identify Mollie’s murderer,” said Portland, Texas, Police Chief Randy Wright, who explained Chapa’s injuries have made communication difficult. “The good news is she has made exceptional progress. Her sight and speech have improved and she can now interact with the artist much better.”
