’90s-era Hip-Hop is generally considered “The Golden Age” of the genre, and for good reason.
As Questlove aptly told Pitchfork in 2016, “no period of Hip-Hop really contextualized and kept alive the music of the past and what came before it.”
“Nothin’ But A G Thang”, the seminal 1992 Dr. Dre/Snoop Dogg collaboration, would have to top any definitive list.
Then there’s Naughty by Nature’s 1993 smash “Hip Hop Hooray,” which spent one week at Number One on the US R&B charts:
How about we take this to the next level?
Our newsletter is like a refreshing cocktail (or mocktail) of LGBTQ+ entertainment and pop culture, served up with a side of eye-candy.
Who can forget Wu-Tang Clan’s “C.R.E.A.M.,” voted by Rolling Stone as #11 on its list of “The 50 Greatest Hip-Hop Songs of All Time.”
The Champion hoodies. Black skullcaps. Timberlands. The group’s singular fashion style inspired an entire generation of aspiring homeboys.
Then there Modus Vivendi’s new “Hip Hop ’90s Sports Brief.”
It’s currently out of stock on International Jock, who describes the product as “inspired by classic ’90s street fashion.” So good luck getting your hands on a pair. (The equally ’90s jockstrap versions are still available, however.)
Apparently, it’s “fit for athletes, sportsmen, and streetwear fashionistas.”
So if you’re a huge hip-hop fan, you should probably swagger through the streets in a pair of these.
You’ll get mad props:
Like, mad props.
Coolio’s down.
Eazy-E’s lookin’ at you, kid:
“And he’s coming this way…oooh…”

Yeah. How do I magically transport myself back to 1978 so I can fit into them?
Kangol
What does that ugly semi-thong/brief have to do with 90s hip hop? Nothing.
Josh447
Ditto that

Whatever happened to just wearing underwear in a pack and just calling it a day?
Bob LaBlah
Dude, when was the last time you were in a gym loaded with white twinks? HELL TO THE NO you don’t dare sport $9.99 weekly Target special Fruit of the Loom briefs in places like that. I don’t care if you splurge a dollar more and get the multi-colored pack, that a no-no. Blow a little smoke my way since your clearly……lol lol lol
Aromaeus
Gentrification.
StupidBoy
So…nine pics/GIFs of POC and two pics of a white twink wearing a thong. That’s exactly what I think of when I think “Hip-Hop-inspired”. /s
Bob LaBlah
Isn’t it awful. It must be that black men don’t find ANY Andrew Christian inspired stuff sexy huh? lol lol lol Based on what you said and its truth that must be the case. lol lol
Xzamilloh
Right? The Crips would have been riding deep up in Crenshaw wearing their blue and black thongs doing drive-bys.
Bob LaBlah
Hip-hop 90’s sport brief and you couldn’t find a hot BLACK model to………oh whats the use. If the black readers didnt seem to care/notice it then why should I spoil their peace? My bad.

This has NOTHING TO DO WITH HIP HOP. Hip hop does not embrace TIGHT, FEMININE, PUNK PANTIES!!! Modus Vivendi please have several seats as you are about as hip hop as my last bowel movement.
PinkoOfTheGange
As of 1000 PDT 25.10.2071 the Modus site just list it as a “90’s tanga”. Also part of the collection are some track suit separates, tank top and an overgrown jock.
Remember that they are a Greek company so to assume that the US’s definition of Hip Hop is the only one is imperialism.
Xzamilloh
In what other country or culture is Hip Hop NOT inspired by US Hip Hop? That’s like saying Olive Garden isn’t a cheap knockoff of authentic Italian food and is just overpriced lasagna that came from nowhere. The US definition of Hip Hop is the ORIGIN of Hip Hop.
Maybe they meant 90’s Hip fashion, not Hip Hop fashion
deacon
This ish hasn’t a damn thing to do with hip hop. I understand this site is predominately for white gay twinks and the only black males you know are Tyson Beckford Derrick Gordon and Michael Sam but give me a F’ing break, at least get a black gay man or POC (person of color) to right the post for you. So you know during that era of HIP HOP the draws of choice were traditional boxers, Polo or Tommy Hilfiger cotton boxers, no self respecting rapper or hip hop head was wear bikini / thong briefs. If your going to post about HIP HOP educate yourself on the topic first so you don’t come off like your talking out your ass.

The underwear is pretty unremarkable. The twink modeling it, on the other hand, is really very fine. Reminds me a lot of my first partner. Happy memories…
