It seems like every few months there’s a new book or documentary or TV special about NFL-star-turned-convicted-killer Aaron Hernandez.
Netflix will premiere Killer Inside: The Mind of Aaron Hernandez on January 15. Meanwhile, Investigation Discovery just announced its own Hernandez doc Aaron Hernandez: An ID Murder Mystery, which airs January 20.
Just to recap: The 27-year-old former Patriots star was serving a life sentence for murder when he was found dead in his prison cell in 2017. The cause of death was ruled a suicide. Afterwards, rumors quickly began circulating that Hernandez was either gay or bisexual
Investigation Discovery spoke to Dennis SanSoucie, a US Marine who claims he and Hernandez were secret boyfriends in high school.
SanSoucie alleges that he and Hernandez first began a sexual relationship in middle school and that it continued throughout high school.
“We prided ourselves on sports and if anyone knew that we had gay sexual activity together our lives would be ruined,” SanSoucie recalls.
“It didn’t matter what age we were, we wouldn’t even know how to live with ourselves. We had shared some sexual activity together and it continued into high school but we didn’t want anyone to know.”
After high school, SanSoucie joined the Marines. He finally decided to come out to his family and friends after Hernandez’s suicide in 2017.
“Me and Aaron always had a great relationship and bond, but in middle school it had progressed to just more than friends,” SanSoucie says.
He continues, “We were just in complete denial of what was really going on. But I think it was something that we both were naturally born with.”
Prior to speaking with Investigation Discovery, SanSourcie gave an in-depth interview with The Boston Globe in 2018 about his relationship with the NFL star.

Hernandez was definitely one of those sex on the down low guys. I usually avoid them but they fill up places like Grindr and what not. Usually just looking to get their d*ck sucked and then back to clueless wifey and the straight life till next time.

“definitely”? Did you sleep with him. Otherwise, you don’t know, so STFU.

It’s impossible to know what type of connection Aaron had towards dudes. Was it just random hook-ups? Or was there actual full-on passions, affections, romantic love, relationship contentment, overall preferences there? We’ll never really know, and we also will never know his future if not for the killings and suicide. Aaron’s story does represent the fragility of mental health and the fragility of a male ego that’s constantly striving for conventional masculinity. And despite being a likely killer you can’t just dismiss him as a villain. He was sexually abused for years. He did have a homophobic father. And he did suffer mind altering injuries during his playing career. The fact that his story is constantly being presented as sensationalism or to push someone’s agendas is unfortunate though.

Ok shit head if you say so. Lol
This is off his Wikipedia page. “Hernandez’s brother and his attorney George Leontire report that Hernandez came out as gay to his mother and ex-girlfriend while in prison”
I honestly don’t care but if those that are the closest to him say he’s gay then I tend to believe it. I don’t see him living an open gay life so yeah. Most likely on the down low.

The man is dead. He cannot defend himself or admit the truth, so let him just be dead.
Rock-N-RollHS
Exactly, he’s dead–and not the most admirably dude. So it doesn’t matter either way. People will talk–it’s a form of entertainment and fantasy.

Thank you sir.

Like, all of us. His life would not have been ruined. At least San Soucie came to terms with his sexuality. Maybe if Hernandez did as well, his life and his victim’s lives would have been different.

I don’t think it was as basic as “he was closeted and therefore he did awful shit”. There are still plenty of closeted people that have not been convicted of execution style murder. And there are plenty of “out” people who do terrible things. I do believe that he was ensnared in toxic masculinity. The guns, the tats, the gang-banging and his career choice seem to all be driven by “proving” his manhood and trying to live up to what a macho, tough guy Latino man is supposed to be. But he likely had mental health and physical health struggles that extended beyond the closet or even living up to conventional masculinity. He also possibly had issues with fluidity and understanding (or accepting) where he was on the romantic, sexual, affection, emotional, relationship contentment spectrum. Not just with being closeted. Almost no stereotypical “tragic queer” can be reduced to “they struggled because they were closeted”. There’s almost always nuances and other internal and external issues.

To be honest, I don’t give a rat’s ass whether Hernandez was gay or not – whether he was dealing with his sexuality on the down-low. The truth is he decided he had the right to murder someone for whatever reason. I only hope he found his peace with God before taking his own life if that’s what happened. I suspect the whole story of his death may not have been told; however, I know the horrors of being bullied even when you don’t come out as gay, and your classmates taunt and bully you for years.

Wash him in acid to get rid of the bad ink then let me look again! Pull the chain and flush!!!!

This is old, old news.
His father ridiculed him for being too effeminate, even though he was a football star. This school chum bit is such old news. Hernandez got f*cked over by toxic masculinity, and he paid it forward, in awful ways.

I used to live next to Dennis SanSoucie. And let me tell you. He’s not stable either. He threatened my neighbor and me constantly. Saying he was going to shoot us. He is very scary and ID should look into him as well. I called the cops on him at least twice.
