Channeling ’70s glam and serious Hozier vibes (we mean that as a compliment), Adam Lambert has just released “New Eyes,” the first video and single from his upcoming 4th album Velvet.
The song certainly feels in line with how the Queen frontman described his new sound to Echo Magazine:
“I didn’t know exactly what I wanted to do for a minute, as far as my solo career. Now, I’ve explored some new sounds and some new concepts and I’m on the course to put something out, but it took a second to discover that for myself, for this project. I was really digging, trying to find some authenticity. The most authentic sound and style that I could. There’s a lot of reference to Glam-Rock and Classic Rock of the ‘70s and the early ‘80s.”

I think Adam is incredibly talented, attractive, and has one of the best voices in music today. Since I panned Madonna’s latest single, I’ll give equal play to this one. Not my cup of tea. Pretty boring and does not highlight Adam’s great talent.
BTW, the recent documentary Queen and Adam Lambert was excellent. Great backstories on both and how they came together and work together. Love them together.

Agreed. This is pretty mushy, nothing defined to grab onto. Queen and Lambert background very cool.

Yup. A mediocre song. So much so that he cannot even muster an exciting vocal for it.

Not loving the new song or the new look quite frankly. Let’s hope it’s just a slip up.

Personally, I actually really enjoyed both the sound and look of this new song and the video. I think that AL is circling and landing into a new realm of psy-pop that we experienced in the late 70’s. Personally i think it’s kind of soft, and would have liked it a bit harder sounding, but he definitely used his vocal skills. Well-done! More please!

I enjoyed it. Of course, I enjoy virtually anything any artist makes. Because, well, art. Exceptions are forced works.
