VIDEO: Matt Bomer as a crazy lonely weatherman in John Butler’s ‘Papi Chulo’

At long last, the trailer has arrived for the much-anticipated John Butler comedy Papi Chulo, starring Matt Bomer.

We covered the film last fall when it had its world premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival. The movie–Butler’s follow-up to his much-acclaimed Handsome Devil–finally comes to cinemas June 7th.

Papi Chulo follows the story of Sean (Bomer), an LA weatherman on the verge of a breakdown after ending a long-term relationship with his boyfriend. Put on involuntary leave by his boss (Wendi Mclendon-Covey of The Goldbergs, hysterical as usual), Sean decides to do some work around the house. He hires migrant worker Ernesto (Alejandro Patino) to repaint his deck, and the two begin an unlikely if awkward friendship. Like all writer-director Butler’s work, Papi Chulo focuses on the power of human connection, often through a hilarious lens. Bomer delivers some of his best work as a man on the brink of raving lunacy. As an added bonus, his bare rear even has a cameo. So, there’s that.

Papi Chulo hits movie screens this June 7.
