Bringing new meaning to the term “showstopper,” Rocketman star Taron Egerton delighted a crowd at the Cannes Film Festival with a performance of the classic Elton John tune…accompanied by none other than Elton John himself.
Rocketman opens in the US May 31 and had its premiere at Cannes earlier this week, earning rave reviews and reportedly reducing Elton to tears. Following the premiere, Elton and Egerton appeared on stage at a special gala reception. John introduced Egerton, and the two launched into a chill-inducing duet of the classic rock song.

The crowd greeted the performance with a standing ovation, which left Egerton emotional.

Fortunately for those of us not at Cannes–and let’s face it, that’s most of us–snippets of the duet have made their way onto the web. If nothing else, they have us even more excited to see Rocketman when it opens in theatres May 31.
