Brendan Jordan, a teen who became a mini-internet sensation after a clip of him video-bombing a news report and vogueing to Lady Gaga’s “Applause” went viral, has revealed he identifies as transgender.
Jordan came out publicly at the Human Rights Campaign’s Time to Thrive conference on Sunday, saying he doesn’t identify completely with one gender and is comfortable using both masculine and feminine pronouns.
“Like most teenagers, I’m still figuring it out,” he stated. “I’m starting to label as one, or as part, of the trans community.”
Jordan added, “I can’t really label it, because, you know, some days, my more feminine side comes out — the ‘she.’ Some other days I don’t feel like putting on my fabulous mask, and the ‘he’ comes out, and I’m totally OK with that.”

i think I remember Coca-Cola also doing something like this but it was a marketing commercial where little boys where getting phones call from each other and the most shocking things was not that the refrigerator was completely empty it was that one of those boys were sexting each other homosexually. im glad Jordan looks so much more fabulous. he should do more speaking jobs. in D.C.

God, I hated him, I’m very supportive of transgender people (in fact, I’d say that 10-20% of my Youtube subscribers are transgender) but I CAN’T STAND LIMELIGHT WHORES. The video bombing was OBNOXIOUS enough, but he was just as bad in interviews. And his parents were proud and willing enablers. No, I do not believe that transgender behavior embarrasses gays or paints them in a negative light. However, self-centered narcissistic high-maintenance LIMELIGHT WHORES do embarrass the community and reinforce negative stereotypes. And I’m not just talking about about silly personal behavior. I’m talking about behavior that is dependent on taking the focus away from others. So no, he’s no asset or role model to the LGBT community or teens, in general. In fact, if my child did that — and I’m not talking about transgender behavior — s/he’d be grounded. What he did was no better than those annoying kids who give reporters the finger or otherwise create distraction in the background.

Wow so Brendan Jordan is totes adorbs! And so well-spoken too! I’m so proud when I see young LGBT’s that are so confident in themselves. He obviously grew up with supportive people around him. Looking forward to seeing what he does with his life. And Andruj Pejic is also very well-spoken and I’m glad she’s using her platform to speak up for what she believes in. The world needs more people like her!

Good role model for being yourself. I hope kids in Russia are able to see these positive coming out experiences. The Russian government makes it illegal for any publication or broadcast to mention suicide to ensure the politicians can hide how many LGBT children have died from the government’s genocide against them.

@Clai Green: When was he not accepted? His parents were always supportive and even encouraged his behavior. See Ellen interview. And he got widespread press and even commercial endorsement deals. Sure there are haters, but all celebrities, including online ones, have detractors. Don’t make his story into something it’s not. There are plenty of struggling lgbt teens out there, and it’s their stories that need to be heard.

Now I’m expected to treat this brat like a role model just because he’s transgender ? If I want a gay teen to look up to, I’d rather pick someone like Jack Andraka, someone who has actually done something for this world, besides dancing on a news report.
