Best of GayCities 2011

Vote For the Best City To Settle Down In And Win A Vacation Package For Two!

The end is almost near: The nominations are in for our sister site’s annual Best of GayCities poll, and this year the competition is fiercer than ever.

Hurry up and vote—the deadline is January 4!

Today we showcase the wonderfully comfy nominees for the best city to settle down in: Austin, TX; Columbus, OH;  Fort Lauderdale, FL; San Jose, CA and Seattle, WA.

Which gay-friendly metropolis would you want to plant roots in?

Austin
Both creative types and tech geeks love the vibrant Texas town (above) for its excellent quality of life and cultural offerings like SXSW and the Austin Museum of Art.

Columbus
Ohio’s capital city is suddenly the Midwestern darling for gays and lesbians, with neighborhoods like Short North, German Village and Clintonville all seeing bumps in their pink presence. The Stonewall Columbus Center is the city’s LGBT community nexus.

Fort Lauderdale
Long one of the country’s top gay settle-down centers, sunny Fort Lauderdale offers warm ocean breezes, a live-and-let-live lifestyle and a  diverse LGBT scene served by the terrific Pride Center at Equality Park.

San Jose
Not just for California techies anymore, San Jose is attracting good-life-seeking gays from across the state and beyond. The Retro Dome is the city’s newest and grooviest performing arts center, while the Billy DeFrank LGBT Center is top notch.

Seattle
They don’t call her the Emerald City for nothing: pretty and comfortable Seattle is the jewel of the Great Northwest. Friendly Capitol Hill is the city’s main gayborhood and we’re rather partial to the Gay City LGBT Library.

Now that you know who’s in the running, why delay” Vote now and you could be a winner too!

One lucky GayCities member will nab two tickets to the U.S. city of their choice (courtesy of our friends at American Airlines) and two nights at a top-rated hotel (courtesy of GayCities).

You’ve only got until January 4 to add your voice to the mix, so why wait?

All winners will be announced on January 5. Anyone can vote but entrants must be GayCities members to qualify for vacation package.
