Former competitive swimmers, fans of gay romance, and lovers of men in speedos, rejoice! The trailer for The Swimmer has arrived.
The new romantic drama from writer/director Adam Kalderon follows the story of Erez (Omer Perelman Striks), a champion swimmer with wild ambitions for his career. A new team placement pairs him with Nevo (Asaf Jonas), a handsome fellow swimmer, and the two form an immediate, electric attraction for one another. Nevo, though, has his own dreams of champion athleticism, and when their coach warns the two to stay apart, the swimmers find themselves engaged in a dangerous game of love, lust, and manipulation.
The Swimmer plays BFI Flare: the London LGBTQIA+ Film Festival March 16-27. For anyone living stateside, you can count on us to keep you posted about a North American release.
For now, enjoy the trailer.

I have seen this film. It is not as gay positive as you would think it would be.

A good film that shows toxic masculinity in sport, the ending sort of trivializes the film sadly. When I saw the film it was disrupted by Palestinian protesters because the film was supported by the Israeli government. I support the Palestinian cause but this film was asking for understanding of gender diversity and had nothing to do with the struggle, it was not about politics. I am pleased that it will be going on to have a public release outside the film festival circuit.
