Designer Orlando Soria turned heartbreak into a TV show last year, when his own break up inspired him to help others get through a split by refreshing their spaces on HGTV’s Unspouse My House. Now, he’s back with an uplifting and inspiring new series that expands upon that idea, Build Me Up. He renovates homes for clients going through a major life change. From an empty nester looking to revamp to a recent divorcee taking in his mom, Orlando helps each client transition into the next chapter of their lives. He’s also the author of Get It Together! An Interior Designer’s Guide to Creating Your Best Life, a visual artist, and he’s funny on Instagram. Queerty’s John Halbach caught up with Orlando about his new series, creating your ideal space in the time of quarantine, and the importance of voting this fall.

I like Orlando–he’s adorable and all that; I just wish he’d stop saying “like” or “um” after every other word. It’s difficult to listen to him.

I wish he would stop stretching his mouth open and sticking out his tongue. He’s annoying.

This guy is totally rad. Utliizing the joy of making spaces better helps people, extends the “muscle” of why to pay attention to good design, plus he’s a REALLY good person. Follow him on Insta and some of his rants are beautiful. Maybe “rant” is the wrong word and it’s more about essays on.. wearing masks, on being lonely, on creating, on growing. I adore him. Also, DAMN does he have a crackin’ bod. If you dig deep enough in his Insta.. man, he’s a hottie.
