For anyone itching to get on with the voguing…and we know most of you are…Pose just teased its June 11 return with a pair of new teaser trailers.
For the uninitiated: Pose focuses on the underground drag ball scene in New York City at the height of the AIDS crisis. Produced by Ryan Murphy, the cast boasts one of the largest ensembles of gay and transgender actors ever assembled, including MJ Rodriguez, Indya Moore, Angelica Ross, Dominique Jackson, Hailie Sahar, Sandra Bernhard and Billy Porter.
Season 2 jumps ahead three years after the Season 1 finale. Pray Tell (Porter) and Blanca (Rodriguez) begin to struggle with HIV as the release of Madonna’s iconic song “Vogue” brings the ball scene a new level of visibility. Yet, as with so many queer stories of the period, the forces of homophobia rally to spell doom for the ballroom clans.
The new teaser spots focus on the characters Lulu & Candy (Sahar and Ross) as they launch their own “house;” that is, a team of dancers and designers to compete in the voguing competitions. The other focuses on the different houses competing for ballroom glory.
Pose returns to FX June 7.
