Crowd pleaser

WATCH: Harry Styles stops his show to help a gay fan

Harry Styles slammed the brakes on his show in San Jose, Texas this week to help a gay fan come out to her mother. Does it get any classier?

The former One Director star noticed the fan, Grace, holding a sign in the crowd that read: “I’m gonna come out to my parents because of you.”

During a song break, Styles pointed to her and asked her name and where her parents were.

Grace shouted out that her mom, Tina, was in a nearby hotel, at which point Styles hushed the crowd and yelled, “Tina, she’s gay!”

“Congratulations, I’m very happy for you,” he said before leading the entire audience in a chant of “Tina, she’s gay.”

“You’ll see that next time on a t-shirt, ‘Tina, she’s gay’,” Styles joked.

Earlier that day, Grace had shared a photo of her homemade sign on Twitter, writing: “I’m not expecting anything but I hope he at least sees it.” Well, he sure did.

After the show she posted an update — she’d shared a video of the mid-concert exchange with her mother, simultaneously coming out to her.

She wrote on Twitter: “I SHOWED MY MOM THE VIDEOS FROM TONIGHT. SHE IS OVERJOYED AND SAYS THAT “YES I DO LOVE YOU AND YOU CAN BE WHOEVER YOU WANT TO BE” SHE WANTS TO THANK HARRY FOR HELPING ME COME OUT and she has decided to come to LA Night 1 with me 🙂 Thank you @Harry_Styles

Later, Grace thanked Styles again for the continued support he extends to his LGBTQ fans:

“Thank you so much for creating an environment where I am proud to be who I am.

Your continuous support of the LGBTQ+ has helped me come to love myself and feel safe. Thank you for tonight and I can’t wait to show Tina (my mom) this video.

Love you always.”
