Montreal’s Osheaga Music and Arts Festival drew record crowds to the city’s Parc Jean-Drapeau last weekend. Despite last-minute cancellations from R&B stars Frank Ocean and Miguel, the three-day festival managed to attract over 135,000 people to headlining sets by The Cure, Beck, and Mumford & Sons.
But the weekend’s most viral moment comes courtesy of Macklemore—obviously—who invited the legendary indie lesbian duo Tegan & Sara (you know them, don’t embarrass yourself) on stage to sing the chorus of his marriage equality anthem, “Same Love”.
Asking T&S to sing the lyrics of your groundbreaking single about gay love is like asking Cher to officiate your gay wedding. It really doesn’t get any better (or gayer) than this, folks.

Sweet. My mind was running the other day while cleaning. Bear with me, I may have mixed my household chemicals…. I wish there was a venue called, “The Grateful Dyke Concert,” where lesbians would cover the Dead’s songs. The money raised could fund college for lesbians. k.d could sing China Cat Sunflower with Indigo Girls chiming in on “I know you Rider,” Sinead-Broke Down Palace, Phranc-Catfish John, Melissa Ferrick-Big River, Tracy Chapman-Ripple, Bitch- Althea, Amy Ray- Franklin’s Tower and on and on, all on the same stage. Wow. Thanks for letting me dream here. Got to go make my lunch for work. Love you all. (please find it in your hearts not to pick on Sinead. Even if she doesn’t identify as lesbian, she deserves honorary dykedom.
