Talk about a talent pool.

Jim Parsons, Michael Benjamin Washington and Brian Hutchison all giggle and chat like old friends, and with good reason. The three have worked together on and off for the past two years as castmates of the 2018 revival of Mart Crowley’s The Boys in the Band.

Now the three have reached a culmination of that work. The new movie version of The Boys in the Band lands on Netflix September 30.

The Boys in the Band follows a group of gay men over the course of a party in a single evening in 1968, when homosexuality was still kept behind closed doors. The insecure, fretful Michael (Parsons) hosts the party, a birthday celebration for his close friend and sometime enemy Harold (Zachary Quinto). As the boozy evening drags on, secrets fly and tempers explode, threatening to turn a good-natured birthday party into an all-out lunatic asylum.

We chatted up Parsons, Washington & Hutchison about their characters, the script, and the first-ever all gay cast of a motion picture. The Boys in the Band lands on Netflix September 30.
