Bradley Taylor and Dylan Meehan have become what Brad’s cousin called “Tumblr famous” thanks to their best friend Chelsea Blaney. A post on her blog about Brad and Dylan, who had been voted “cutest couple” in their high school yearbook, has been shared over 100,000 times, attracting international attention and support.
“It’s been insane,” Brad, 17, told USA Today hours away from their senior prom on Monday. “We are very, very proud to show that Carmel High School is the way it is.”
“No one treats us any differently from straight couples,” Dylan added. They both agreed that they have received nothing but love and support since their relationship went viral.
Brad and Dylan have been together since last June after a friend introduced them on a tour of Brown University. They came out to their friends and their families a week later.
“I don’t know why there’s such a big deal being made about this,” Brad’s father, Robert, said. “In this day and age, it’s normal.”
Both Brad and Dylan have 4.0 GPAs and are attending New York University together in the fall, where they expect to study theater, business and the sciences. The added attention they’re receiving leading up to their prom, however, makes their night to remember even more “exciting,” according to Dylan.
“It makes us so excited to go to the ball,” Brad said, “because we know so many people are accepting of us.”

While this is a cute couple, anything reminding me of High School prom makes me gag.

While it does our cause no harm to have eye candy like this being in the high school proms, let us remember not everyone is heartrendly beautiful, and we have our place in the sun too.

Ugh, prom!
I decided to pass on mine, it was a military ball not a prom. Going to a military school was good for me, but the prom thing was still bullshit.

This is Great! And of Great Significance- I remember when Aaron Fricke had to sue to attend his high school prom back in the 70’s, and it was not nearly as accepted. Kudos to these courageous young men who are changing history for the better. “As long as it’s Love the Lord Won’t Mind”- from Gordon Merrick’s groundbreaking Peter and Charlie Trilogy. Bless them both and HAVE FUN! and for the others who commented- I hated my prom, too- all the popular cliquey kids got all the attention. But these two are literally making history, and will be remembered for that, if nothing else.

Basically, anyone can just “claim” to be Gay, have their pic on the Internet, and ‘ride’ the Gay wave for accolades and notoriety and “famous”. Claiming to be Gay can be a ‘fad’ to do thing. No one can prove it one way or another. Just go with the flow and tide. Pity.

@daniwitz13: You must have just watched “I Now Pronounce You Chuck & Larry”. That’s not reality. It’s a movie. I’m just saying because you apparently have reality mixed up with fantasy. No one does that. But, of course it does allow you to troll the boards saying stupid shit. Go right ahead. It’s your right to be ignorant. Republicans do it all the time.

@daniwitz13: Oh yes, think of the ‘benefits’: ostracism from your family, judgement and excommunication from your church, bullying by your peers, sacking from your job, violent assault and abuse yelled across the street, hate mail, threatening phone calls.
Of course not every gay person suffers every one of these, but most would have experience one or more. Every day someone gay is abused shamefully because of their sexual orientation, some are killed in broad daylight, and in 7 countries their own government kills them through the death penalty for homosexuality, such as in Iran where two 16 year old youths were hanged recently for being in a relationship with each other.
Straight people never have to endure mistreatment like this because of their inborn romantic and sexual orientation.

@Derek Williams: it is their love for each other that makes them truly beautiful!
