Orgasm continues the trend of increasing dialogue about LGBTQ people living in Africa. The film stars Prince Banabas and Elvis Obue as a pair of gay men living in Nigeria. What begins as a one-night hookup takes an unexpected turn when the two feel a profound emotional attachment to one another. In Nigeria, gay sex remains punishable by imprisonment, or even death. Can they stay together? Or should they marry women to hide their sexual orientations?

This looks interesting and since it’s set in Nigeria, the film’s plot and general stakes are much more serious than if it were set in a country where LGBTQ were openly accepted and legally protected. I’ve never heard of GayBingeTV so I hope it appears on one of the other more widely available streaming services.
BTW, is Queerty going to write about Rothaniel, the new Netflix special from Jerrod Carmichael in which he finally does come out as a “gay” man? The last time you ran an article on him was back in 2019, around his earlier special, when he publicly announced to his mother and fans that he had hooked up with some men. This coming out does feel like a bigger deal, but the special shows how much of a struggle it was and is. It certainly was a big enough deal that he ended up hosting Saturday Night Live last night too.
