WATCH: Pet Shop Boys Have A “Winner” With New Track

“Winner”, the new single from the Pet Shop Boys, is out now, and there’s a clear Olympics theme woven into the song—from the track’s title and lyrics to the platform featured in this video. Are the Boys hoping “Winner” will become an unofficial anthem at the London games? It feels a little too low-fi for that, but maybe a pepped-up remix will make it the next “Cup of Life.”

Earlie this month, PSB released another track off their upcoming album, Elysium, called “Invisible.” Check it—and the eyecatching video by Brian Bress—out below. Elysium is due out on September 17.

Big Pet Shop Boys fan, but I’m disappointed by Winner. Go West may have been an unofficial terrace chant, but an unabashed Olympic anthem? Nooooo….
