Just in time for a little Pride pre-game, the trailer for State of Pride, the new documentary from Oscar-winners Jeffery Friedman and Rob Epstein (The Celluloid Closet) has arrived with a release date: May 29.
State of Pride examines the evolution of Pride as both a protest and a celebration of diversity over the past 50 years. The film features interviews with a wide array of members of the LGBTQ community who discuss their own lives as queer people and the meaningful role Pride celebrations play in their lives.

State of Pride marks the second release for Epstein and Friedman this year following their concert film Linda Rondstat: Sound of My Voice. The pair have netted two Oscars in their career for the queer-themed documentaries The Times of Harvey Milk and Common Threads: Stories from the Quilt. Earlier this year, the pair also scored another Academy Award nomination for their short film End Game. It is produced and narrated by Raymond Braun.
