It’s hard to know where to begin with the marriage equality news this week: the huge huge victories in Colorado and Illinois; marriage initiatives gearing up with Texas and Oregon; a crazy-good survey about national attitudes … and oh yeah the Prop 8 brief heading to the Supreme Court on Thursday.
That new survey sure is a stunner: 75% of Americans believe that marriage is a fundamental Constitutional right. Now, that’s slightly different from believing that it should be a fundamental right, but any way you slice it, it looks pretty good.
And then there’s the Pentagon’s announcement that they’ll extend a handful of benefits to the spouses of gay and lesbian service members. It’s far from comprehensive for now, unfortunately, since the Defense of Marriage Act still makes any federal relationship recognition complicated. But it’s a start.
Onward and upward.
How about we take this to the next level?

Well, I’m sure the conservative branch of the Scotus will twist and fold the constitution in order to make it constitutional for the majority to shit on the minority, but only on gay people, just like the religulous have twisted and folded the bible to shit on gay people but yet make adultery and pedophilia down right Godly. Our only hope is John Roberts. Hopefully he will rule justly.
