Rocketman is set for landing.
The first trailer for the Elton John biopic was released Monday, bringing this much-anticipated film that much closer to ground control.
The film will “follow Sir Elton’s life his years as a prodigy at the Royal Academy of Music through to his influential musical partnership with lyricist Bernie Taupin, played by Jamie Bell. It will document the life of the singer and songwriter from youth as a student to the start of his rock career in the 1970s and 80s.”

I saw this movie as part of the Queer film festival here in PDX. I could have watched 90 minutes more than the 89 minute movie. It’s one-sided, but it’s a different side from the Bosworth biography, and the big news is that Monty and his brother have hundreds, if not thousands, of hours of reel-to-reel tapes/cassettes of conversations including many hours of discussion between Monty’s brother and Bosworth about the biography and “facts.” It’s well worth watching, and makes me want to read a new biography with new research based on the tapes.
