Watch: The ‘Hell Yeah I’m Gay’ Rap Song You Won’t Be Able To Forget

“Hell yeah I’m gay / And I don’t care what people say / Hell yeah I’m gay / And I will never change my ways.” And so begins my new personal anthem! Or rather, it’s the (new?) track from … actually, I have no idea. And that’s where I need your help! I’m always on the search for pro-gay songs that aren’t, well, crappy and cheesy (e.g. Reichen Lehmkuhl’s “Up To The Sky”). And with lyrics like, “Society hates me / ‘Cause I love the pussy / Church is scared of me / ‘Cause to them, they think I’m the devil’s parody,” well, that’s exactly what “I’m Gay” isn’t. (And check out the closing shot, with the t-shirt for Mitrice Richardson.) From the opening credits we see the video is a production of DJ and music video proudcer Marcus “CRASH” Miller, but that’s as far as the clues lead me. Who are this proud ladies?

Love it. Feels like a radio hit!

  • bob

a shot of the shirt at the end shows “selfesteemqueen.com”, which looks like a website for one of the folks in the video.

    Catchy.

I love the song with 2 tiny exceptions…

1.The verse goes: Hell yeah I’m Gay “BUT” I’m here to stay”

Why was the conjunction “But” used? It implies that being Gay is Bad. The verse should have used “AND” instead of “BUT”..

    2. I didn’t like the She-Drag outfits of the rappers. The Dike appearance only plays into stereotypes.. I needed more Lip Stick Lesbians in this video…

    That is all!

“I will never change my ways” makes orientation sound like a choice/preference.

  • jason

Sexual orientation can’t be changed but sexual behavior can be directed towards one gender only through training. I’ve seen it happen. I’m not saying it’s justified but I am saying it is possible to do it.

@ Jason – Then what exactly are you supporting?

  • chpinnlr

The Artist is Jayne Dooe, and the single is available at iTunes.

  • Thomas Marx

I think the video should feature lipstick lesbians. After all, gay rights should extend only to those who can pass as straight. Black Pegasus and Jason, you are total shitwads. Your friends won’t tell you, but I will. Fuck you.

Jayne Dooe is the artist. the song is avail on iTunes.

I would love to have seen some guys sing this song. But, as we know, the music industry is exceptionally homophobic towards male-male sexuality. Even the liberals in the music industry are hostile towards male-male sexuality.

  • jason

Also, why didn’t Marcus CRASH Miller make a video showing guys singing this song? Is he homophobic towards men? It wouldn’t surprise me in the least. The men in the music industry are extremely hostile towards male homosexuals and male bisexuals. Even the concept offends them.

@jason: Why don’t you say this when we see gay guys singing about equality? Lesbians deserve their own spotlight.

  • Eminent Victorian

I like it. It’s happy & affirmative & the people in it seem to be having a good time. Good for them!

  • Rachel

To all the people who say this song/video needs this or that: it’s a small vid for a fun song featuring a small group of people. It doesn’t need to represent the whole of the gay and lesbian population to make a statement.

I’d love to know who this is, too. Keep us updated if you find out!

  • Rachel

    @chpinnlr: Thanks for that. :)
