Sound the trumpets and pour the mimosas: the trailer for Fire Island has arrived, bringing with it the ultimate tease to a big gay summer.
Fire Island reimagines Jane Austen’s classic novel Pride and Prejudice as a tale among queer men attending the titular summer hangout. Longtime friends Noah (Joel Kim Booster) and Howie (Bowen Yang) lead the group on the search for love and revels at the island paradise, aided by their “den mother,” Erin (Margaret Cho). Of course, romance, sexy situations, and heavy drinking ensue, pushing their friendships and sanity to the limit. Conrad Ricamora, Torian Miller, Nick Adams, and Zane Phillips also star.

Director Andrew Ahn (Spa Night) returns to the screen to helm a script by Booster. The film debuts on Hulu as a kickoff for Pride month on June 3.

Fire Island isn’t all gay, there are family friendly places that people go to. That being said the Pines and the Grove are naughty places to enjoy, the meat rack especially a pleasure but I prefer the off season, less crowded and a lot more fun. I only live 45 minutes from the nearest ferry so I can go as often as I choose which isn’t very often.

Okay. I laughed out loud at this trailer but I just can’t sign up for HULU again. I just can’t. There’s nothing on there that I want to watch. The last time I subscribed for that Christmas movie with Kristin Stewart and Daniel Levy (only for Daniel). I watched it about 20 times and then canceled. Maybe I’ll wait for another 7-day free thing.

I don’t know which would be more damaging to a kid who’s struggling to figure out and possibly accept the fact that he’s gay: being subjected to years of Desantis-approved lesson plans and bullying in school, or; locking himself in his room to secretly watch this film to learn what being “gay” means.
