WATCH: The trailer for Peacock’s ripped-from-the-billboards series “Angelyne” just dropped and YAAAS!

Angelyne

Get out the pink heels and tank tops (and don’t act like you don’t have them): the trailer for the new biopic series Angelyne has arrived.

Angelyne emerged seemingly out of nowhere in the late 1970s and early 1980s as a fixture on billboards around Los Angeles. She also began to appear around the city herself, dressed in hot pink with a plunging neckline and driving a matching pink corvette. Over the ensuing decades, she released a series of albums, turned up in films and on television, and always eschewed discussing her origins. That coy attitude fueled the pressing question: who was this woman?

Call her a proto influencer: famous for being famous, rather than for any accomplishments.

The new series, which stars Emmy Rossum in the title role, will explore Angelyne’s rise to infamy and her cultural effect. The real Angelyne produces the new show, so we’re not quite sure how much of her real story or identity it will expose (something, incidentally, The Hollywood Reporter definitively did in 2017… but we don’t want to spoil the story here).

Martin Freeman, Lukas Gage, and Alex Karpovsky also star. The series lands on Peacock May 19.
