What I loved about him towards the end was his incredible privacy during what must have been 10 years of incredibly bad luck with illnesses, bad luck, heart attacks, whatever. He kept it private and in the age we live in, with Twitter where everyone knows everything about everything, he kept it to himself. He made two albums without anyone knowing he was making them. He had, you know, obviously treatment for his illnesses without anyone knowing or anyone saying anything. And that is the mystique of the man.
Because we know David Bowie the figure, the singer, the outrageous performer. But actually we don’t know anything about him. And that’s the way it should be in music, and it should be in any art form whatsoever.
They don’t make them like that anymore. We’ve lost a huge, huge talent that influenced so many people.”
— Elton John discussing his late pal David Bowie during SiriusXM Town Hall with Elton John, which will air on The Spectrum channel on February 4

Both gave us great songs, and they both liked astronauts too

On the other hand, we need more than we need to about Elton JOhn.
Damien Malachi
Finally! Something by Elton John that doesn’t make him look like a complete ass.
Martin Shaw
That’s because unlike you Elton. David was all about the music!
Kieran
We know Bowie’s mother was Irish which is nice.
Sweetie Pie
@Kieran: I hope he did not inherit the Irish curse…
Ronbo
Does Elton John know about irony?
“But actually we don’t know anything about him. And that’s the way it should be in music, and it should be in any art form whatsoever.”
This from a man who only drops the public spotlight/megaphone to sing for Rush Limbaugh and donate money to anti-gay organizations. I WISH that I didn’t know about your awful, retro politics, Elton. I loved your music; but, I’m ready for you to move on.

@Sweetie Pie: If the Irish curse is true (though my slutty friend who’s been with men of all ethnicities swears it’s the opposite) it’s probably because the Irish have high I.Q.s. (Look at the Japanese).
Omar Arnold
Indeed, Yoko Ono with the picture, Madonna and others are just ridiculous about Bowie’s death.
James Thompson
David Bowie shall live forever, in the hearts of many people.
Kevin J Desmond
Well Elton …. unlike you David wasn’t a fat and bitchy douche bag like you. David Bowie treated everybody with respect and never acted like the world revolved around him.
doug105
@Sweetie Pie: Watch the unrated version of: The Man who fell to Earth, clearly he did not.
Jessica Fox
poor fellow if he valued his privacy so much
Stache
@Kevin J Desmond: Ha. Well, tell us how you really feel. All true of coarse.
