This weekend, lose the rainbow (Pride was so last month) and stick to red, white and blue as this great gay nation finds a new reason to party. It’s what the founding fathers would have wanted. From the circuity show of patriotism that is Independence Ptown to the, well, equally circuity Matinee Las Vegas, it’s clear that many of us will be celebrating our freedom by exercising our right to dance shirtless. There’s even a “Book of Mormon” themed party on Fire Island for the religious freedom-lover in you. We expect the white collars won’t stay on long.

He’s not one of the Founding Fathers but, there’s a persistent rumor Abraham Lincoln was gay, or at very least, bi.
LandStander
I have heard that rumor as well. Unfortunately, I’m not sure there will ever be much physical evidence found, other than the occasional letter that very, very vaguely implicates “special” relationships lol.
Danielle
Who’s the girl in the red skirt? Nice to actually see an American woman with some CURVES!
David Ehrenstein
@christopher di spirito: Not just Lincoln. George Washington was a Big Ol’ Queen.

Might I suggest, A Queer History of the United States (Revisioning American History) by Michael Bronski
This excellent and easy to read book clears up a lot of things and goes from 1492 on up to our own day.
Red Meat
James Buchanan was for sure gay.
Lor
I think that it’s a completely cosmetically lifted Susan Olsen!
Art Smith
James Buchanan was gay, Lincoln was bisexual.
Mal Tempo
Thank heavens all the old queens on this website can recall the good old days of the Buchanan and Lincoln administrations.
Damien
@Mal Tempo: lol!
