“The West Virginia Senate has approved a bill that would protect state citizens from discrimination base on sexual orientation. The bill was approved by senators on Friday. The legislation must still be approved by the House, where it did not pass last year. If the legislation is passed, people would be protected from being fired or denied housing because of their sexual orientation.” [WTRF-7]

It’s a start. Since I’m moving back to my home state at the end of the month, it’s a move in the right direction I can appreciate. They’ve got a new group, at fairnesswv.org fighting the good fight and looking for support.

Keep your fingers crossed! WV might finally do something right for a change in government – and maybe, just maybe we’ll be on a list of good things instead of bad things (poorest state, fattest state, etc).

I”m also from WV and I HOPE that this gets approved by the House. I’ve got my fingers crossed. I don’t like having to worry that once I get out of college and get a job I’m going to lose it because I’m gay.
