Of course the British prime minster doesn’t have Obama’s problem of legislatively repealing Don’t Ask Don’t tell, because his country did that in 2000. [Pink Paper]

Maybe that’s because gays can actually serve openly in the British military, while that is not true in the US, and also because there is a large number of LGBT folks who are unsatisfied with Obama’s leadership on the issue?
So what’s your point?

This headline doesn’t make sense. Britian did away with restrictions on gays in the military, so they put their money where their mouth is on that issue.

Obama is a pragmatist. They do not take risks. They seek consensus. The negotiate everything to mediocrity.
When he said he would “work with Congress” he KNEW the votes for repeal were NOT available. That’s as far as he will go. If you don’t understand that – look at Healthcare reform.
Pragmatism: A movement consisting of varying but associated theories, originally developed by Charles S. Peirce and William James and distinguished by the doctrine that the meaning of an idea or a proposition lies in its observable practical consequences.
In our case, whether or not it would be able to pass the US Senate. He knows it cannot.

You are right but I do have the luxury of voting for a third-party candidate until Obama catches up with my Civil Rights!
Gordon Brown, long alleged to be Tony Blair’s puppet-master will not win re-election as the Tories look to be victorious so you better get that Thatcher Drag Out, it’s going to get ugly…with pearls!
NOTE TO LIBERAL WORLD LEADERS (Obama, Rudd, Lula, Hatoyama, Zapatero) You must get on Economic Sound footing, because you are only as popular as your next election….
