“ABC, CBS, NBC SHAME!” That’s the note Philadelphia Gay News publisher Mark Segal sent Queerty last night after seeing zero news coverage of the 40th anniversary of Stonewall from any of the major networks’ evening news broadcasts yesterday. “No mention of Stonewall 40 the milestone of this generation’s civil rights movement … [on any network’s] evening newscast. … ALL three had packages on the death of a pitchman [Billy Mays], but nothing on this historic 40th anniversary of the Stonewall Riots which created the new gay movement.” We’re not big watchers of the evening news ’round these parts, but we’re curious: Did anyone’s local news broadcast cover the anniversary?
Yes, the cable news networks were on the ball:

Besides, it’s only newsworthy to 4% of the population. Why bother?

Did I hear the announcer say the 39th Annual Celebration of LGBT Pride Parade and Festival?
Matt
I saw a nice piece on CBS but it was the Saturday morning news.

@schlukitz:
The Parade IS the 39th. The first parade was not until 1 year AFTER stonewall in 1979.
The Riot itself dows not count as a parade

CBS had a short piece on their evening newscast last night. And for once the footage was really tame, lot’s of kids, mom’s and dads.

@Wolf:
You’re spot on. I kept hearing about the 40th Anniversary of Stonewall and I guess that was what I had in my mind.
Thanks for pointing that out to me.
