Sorry, Colorado gays: Your lawmakers in the State House believe you’re too irresponsible to handle even civil unions. The bill died with a 6-5 vote in the House Judiciary Committee; it passed the State Senate last week with bipartisan support. But it wouldn’t be a legislative debate on gay rights without the religious zealots! The Family Research Institute’s Dr. Paul Cameron, testifying in opposition to the bill, talked about how “every Coloradoan now has basically a $112 AIDS tax from gays in the United States” and how “if you take all your clothes off and stand in front of a mirror, and your plumbing is on the outside, you’re a male,” and you can’t mix and match plumbing like a crazy person. “God does not make mistakes.” But wait until you hear about the Roman orgies!

And the RWNJs continue to use their religious scare tactics and distortion of history and facts to spread their bigotry and oppress gays. What else is new?
This is just embarrassing.

In the eyes in the anti/ex-gay, being gay is ALL AND ONLY about having gay sex, specifically man2man sex, specifically anal and oral sex. So therefore, expecting these people to, you know, recognize the humanity of us, is not going to happen. In their eyes, we aren’t human, we’re heathens. And that’s one of the main reasons why these bigots continue to attack us, because they think that everything we touch will basically turn to shit, solely because of our sexuality.
Of course, many if not the majority of these sick bastards are driven by self-hatred too, most are religiously brainwashed, but for these perverts, it’s all about the sex. Guess that’s what happens when your sex repressed, you obsess with what everyone else does with their bodies.

This is a good reason to never, ever, vote for a Republican.
If they honestly believe an institution that is supposed to
encourage monogamy will increase the spread of any STD, they
are idiots. If they don’t believe it but are spouting it anyway, they lack the integrity to hold an honest discussion.
We have enough problems in this country. The last thing we
need is more idiots and dissemblers (who waste huge amounts of time as they spout completely bogus arguments) in the legislature.

I love how the guy said “if you take all your clothes off and stand in front of a mirror, and your plumbing is on the outside, you’re a male,” as if he’s some expert in human psychology, sexuality, and biology.
When it comes to cases like these I don’t think we should let their opinions go into this, let alone their religion. I’d like it if they showed us one situation where consensual gay marriage, sex, or a sex change can hurt another person outside of something as ubiquitously different as corruption of morals.
I’m not christian, I don’t believe in their god, but i do think they have the right to believe in their god and think gay marraige is wrong. However individual morals should not take a place in lawmaking.

As far as the end of the Roman Empire goes . . . even the dullest of amateur historians can see the correspondance between the fall of Rome and the rise of Christianity.

$112 for AIDS victims? Compared with the thousands of $$$ to pay for heterosexual’s broken marriages in the form of
* shelters for abused women
* jails for heterosexual perpetrators of sexually abused women
* medical expenses to save pre-mature babies (easily $millions each)
* welfare costs for heterosexual men who abandon their families, which gay couples are forced to pay for through taxes
Tsk tsk tsk . . . this is just the tip of the iceberg.
