Will A Petition Convince Donald Trump To Move Miss Universe From Russia?

Donald-Trump-500x334Z-list E! host Giuliana Rancic can breathe a sigh of relief, as controversy regarding November’s Miss Universe pageant in Moscow has shifted from her onto Donald Trump.

Trump, the owner of the Miss Universe Organization, has been served with a petition by the Human Rights Campaign. He’s being asked to move the legendary competition to a different country in light of Russia’s horrific treatment of LGBTs.

This should be a no-brainer, seeing as this organization has a torrid history of ousting and then accepting transgender contestants. This could be a perfect opportunity for Trump to stand in solidarity with the trans contestants that fought for their rightful place in the legendary lineup, but then again, this is Donald Trump we’re talking about.

HRC hasn’t offered a suggestion of where to move the pageant. They just would prefer it happen in “a country with greater respect for basic human rights.” They’re also posing some pretty tough questions:

“Just imagine what would happen if one of this year’s competitors said something to support LGBT equality? Would Russian forces storm the stage and drag her away? Throw her in jail? Deport her? That’s the very real threat that people in Russia live with every day under the nation’s heinous anti-LGBT “propaganda” law.”

The ball is in your court, Mr. Trump. We don’t expect Ms. Rancid to weigh in on the subject. You know this class act is just here for easy paycheck, and she’d just as easily give gays the middle finger the way she did the folks that write her jokes.
