We admit we weren’t aware of Rebecca Bradley before today, but after digging around for a bit for info on Wisconsin’s newest Supreme Court Justice, blissful ignorance is starting to sound pretty nice.
Bradley had the strong support of the conservative movement behind her, and all that right-wing fervor — helmed by the strong support of Governor Scott Walker — paid off.
In the weeks leading up to the election, the progressive group One Wisconsin Now tracked down some of Bradley’s opinion columns she wrote while a student at Marquette University in the early 1990s.
It’s important to remember that the world was a different place then, but even so, her comments are more than troubling given her current seat of power.
How about we take this to the next level?
Our newsletter is like a refreshing cocktail (or mocktail) of LGBTQ+ entertainment and pop culture, served up with a side of eye-candy.
In one column, Bradley attacks people trying to bring attention to the AIDS crisis, scorning “their misdirected compassion for the degenerates who basically commit suicide through their behavior.”
She also wrote it was far better to have AIDS than cancer “because those afflicted with the politically-correct disease will be getting all of the funding.”
“How sad that the lives of degenerate drug addicts and queers are valued more than the innocent victims of more prevalent ailments,” she added.
In a separate column, Bradley compares abortion to slavery and the Holocaust.
She has since apologized for the content of the columns, saying they have “nothing to do with who I am as a person or a jurist, and they have nothing to do with the issues facing the voters of this state.”
Bradley will serve for the next ten years on the states’ Supreme Court.

i would call to have you recused where any person involved was gay…you would cause to much disruption for the court to work in a timely manner and you just need to go and practice you hateful law somewhere else…maybe all those establishments that will be sued could use a lawyer like you

A repugnant person. Basic republican.

Just another instance of the Koch Brothers working to rig the judicial system in their favor. Watch for anti environmental rulings, anti union, anti gay and anti choice rulings for the next Decade.

so she is trying to say that her opinion column has nothing to do with her?
Georgie Land
No, she seems to be saying homophobia is not a problem.

Oh god why don’t people like her meet an early grave?

There is a special place in hell for people like this.

Hate her already. A typical product of this ignorant generation of neo-bigots and self-radicalized ‘Christians’ and other reactionaries.

Her writing seems as angry as it is evil. Hopefully it will all come back to her.

Words of apology are just that, words. From the other standpoint, one could say she hasn’t the courage of her convictions. Rebecca Bradley, if you can flip flop on your strongly held convictions what else will you flip flop on? And Becky, actions speak a hell of a lot more than words, do some volunteer work with LGBTI kids and help out, you might actually learn something!

Wisconsin… Made a huge error yesterday voting for Sanders and deserves this Supreme Court justice. So progressive huh? Yet these clowns keep voting for republicans at the state level. Learn something from California please.

She must post on Datalounge.

outside money at work and the republicans are at the root cause of this assault on American democracy

“nothing to do with who I am as a person or a jurist” – Excuse me, what?? Of course it has everything to do with her both as a person, a fearful, ignorant personal bigot, and certainly as a jurist. How can any gay citizen expect to have a bias free decision in her courtroom? As far as “having nothing to do with the issues facing the voters”, I believe gay citizens would strongly disagree.

Bravo to all the fake democrats who voted for Sanders in Wisconsin (enjoy the little ride because it’ll all come crashing down when Sanders get crushed in New York, Maryland, Pennsylvania and California).
I do have a question though… how can you vote for Sanders but vote for republicans at the state level? Fake democrats really.

“Bernie Sanders won Wisconsin, but did you know there was a key Supreme Court race on the ballot thereâ??and our candidate barely lost? 15% of Bernie supporters failed to vote on anything down-ballot, whereas only 4% of Hillary supporters did so. If you’re all about Bernie, but don’t know or care about state & local races, how in the world are you gonna have a political revolution? Seriously.” –Shared from a Facebook friend.
