Meet Janae Marie Krok, previously known as world record holder and world champion power lifter Matt Kroczaleski.
Yesterday, Outsports reported that the human titan has announced on her Instagram account that she’s a “transgender/genderfluid Alpha male/girly girl Lesbian in a male body.”

Best known in the bodybuilding world for creating the “Kroc row” back workout, the bodybuilder recently wrote a statement to the muscly site Gymflow100:
Being a total alpha male and transgender definitely makes me unique even in the transgender community… Gender identity and personality tests that I have taken in an effort to figure myself out always indicate that I am both hyper-masculine and hyper-feminine. Exactly what I need to do to be at peace with myself is something I am still not 100% certain of. Transitioning is a very difficult process and even tougher at an older age (I’m 42.)…
And living as a transgender woman that is honest about her situation is very difficult and can be dangerous. I am a very realistic person and I don’t think the transitioning will magically solve all of my issues without creating new challenges. Whatever path I choose, there will be sacrifices made.
You can read Krok’s entire statement here, and Gymflow provides highlights of her power lifting career and charts her journey in the video below:

And she looks like any miss Universe competitor already!!
Kangol
Good for her.
(Now let’s see if my first comment gets bumped down by FB posters. Not sure why that happens but it seems to all the time.)
aliengod
Good grief! Apparently this is the new popular thing for male athletes. All these new “gender” terms are silly. Call it what it is, cross-dressing.
Xzamilio
@aliengod: It’s absolutely mind boggling that people like you still exist in 2015.
startenout
@aliengod: actually there’s nothing new in her gender terminology. She’s transitioning to a woman.
AtticusBennett
good for her! live your life on your terms, out and proud! and take solace – the haters will only make their ignorant comments from a place of cowardly internet anonymity. you live in the light, they shout miserable bitter hatred from the darkness of their closets. therefore, you win. rock on, girl!
Will Moor
@Xzamilio: @AtticusBennett: Amen!
jwtraveler
Quite a change! I wonder if some of these male athletes who transition had pursued the athletics as a way to compensate for their feelings that they were not “real” men. I’m not a psychologist; it’s just a thought.
I don’t like that “lesbian in a man’s body” terminology. I suspect that a lot of lesbians would not like it either.
jwtraveler
Almost forgot. Relevant to this topic, if you haven’t seen the Thai film “Beautiful Boxer”, I highly recommend it. Great film!
Vallin
She can heave my 135lb runner’s body right across her shoulders and do-me-do-me-do-me all ni-eeght ANY time!
Alex Rothwell
Has to be photoshop joke here.
DDstar1me
I agree with aliengod & jwtraveler
DDstar1me
This is just playing dress up
DDstar1me
He and Bruce are just using the LGBT community as a ploy for an excuse to x-dress. I apologize for my ignorance, but these alpha-males becoming women just doesn’t seem logical to me. They are not gay. They don’t want to be with men. So…why are they being featured? They are not heros.
They are coming out of their holes because it’s now safe to play. I’m over it.
Curty
What is gender fluid? There are so many terms these days its hard to keep up. What happened to glbt and men and women who just want to cross dress?
Giancarlo85
@aliengod: Oh look everybody… It is the ignorant asshole. This isn’t crossdressing. Why do you always insist on making stupid statements in articles like these?
Does it really bother you that much not everyone lives to your antiquated views of gender norms?
jason smeds
All I see is a man with a fetish for women’s bodies, including their long flowing hair. Yawn, yawn, yawn. Got nothing to do with male homosexuality.
Clark35
@Curty: Exactly, I would just call her a Trans woman. Not gender fluid, or a biological woman or someone who is actually genetically and biologically female.
Bob LaBlah
Now Jose Cansenco, the disgraced ball player, has put on a dress and heels. I read about it this morning. I guess next will be Spreewell announcing his coming out on Housewives of Atlanta. A black guy is all that’s left that could make the news. Move over, Nene.
Curty
An alpha male plus Transgender “girly girl” what? This is when labels become out of control… if you a trans be trans… but this extra defining and labeling shit sounds a bit nutty… seriously…
jwtraveler
I don’t get the hostility directed at him/her. It may be hard for us to understand why this masculine-looking bodybuilder would transition to a woman, but so what? How does it affect YOUR life? What difference does it make to YOU? It’s like all the hostility directed at gay people who want to get married. They don’t have to like it or understand it, but why do they care? It doesn’t affect them.
GET THE POINT?
Giancarlo85
@jason smeds: No. It has nothing to do with fetishes. It rather has to do with actual gender identification.
@Curty: Why do you feel the need to define what others think? You’re a bit nutty and you’re always slinging shit on here like other transphobes.
Realitycheck
@Curty: Nothing is black and white, what you call labels are simply way to describe each person complex personality and nature.
We have all different emotional needs, with a transgender is even more complicated, I can’t even begin to imagine what a transgender must go trough.
jason smeds
The mere fact that Matt Kroc has long flowing hair suggests that he might have a stereotypical view of women. I mean, why can’t he have short hair? Does he have anything against short hair on women?
And this ridiculous notion that he’s a girly lesbian in a woman’s body is absolutely too much. It reeks of fetish. Fetish, fetish, fetish. I certainly don’t want fetishists associated with the important cause of gay rights.
Bauhaus
@jason smeds:
Does it reek like your own “fetish, fetish, fetish” for straight guys, and the absurd notion that a straight guy, or any guy, would touch your blistered ass?
Curty
I’m not a transphobe I have trans friends and again discrimination against them is wrong. I just think all of the labels are a bit too much and a bit nutty. If you’re trans be trans. But this dumb terms as fluid, alpha male trans woman is just a bit over examination of one’s self. Fact, I’m a gay man. Other labels people want to throw at me is up to other’s. This fluid, cis gender, girly girl, male shit is a bit ridiculous. Just be you without explaining. Those who got defensive over my comments definitely miss understood me or just wanted to throw shade. I’m not transphobic, that is an incorrect label of myself that I definitely needed tl dispel. I have trans friends who I care about and have given advice to and have helped.
McShane
@jason smeds:
“I certainly don’t want fetishists associated with the important cause of gay rights.”
Say’s the guy locked in a dog crate, getting pissed on by junkies.
mz.sam
@Curty: Appreciate and in agreement your comment and to a certain point labels are useful to a purposeful degree. However, this new terminology arising from this article is no more than the reinterpretation a cross-dressing subculture.
Jandrooey
I’ve never been so confused in my entire life!
Curty
Basically mz.sam is all of these terms, labels necessary if you are trans or a dude who does drag? Lol… dude just do it. No need to explain what kind you are with this stupid terms, labels and extra shit. Just do you. Alpha male, trans girly girl. I’m like what? Lol Tou trans or not? That’s all that matters.
Jacob23
So a straight male has gender issues, feeling hyper-masculine and hyper-feminine, or as he says in his full statement, like there are “two completely different people trying to share 1 body” each fighting the other for control.
And because this guy has mental, gender and personality issues, LGBs have to pretend that they are “one people” with this guy? We have to reorder our political priorities and spend our limited resources in order to serve this guy and his many needs? We have to tell LGB youth that they will have to keep waiting for help with bullying and isolation because we need to celebrate some guy in a skirt with a civil war going on inside his head. Kroc probably never lifted a finger for LGBs prior to today, when he was walking around in jeans with his girlfriend on his arm. I wonder how many anti-gay jokes and smears he told to entertain his fellow power lifters. But “LGBT” would have us believe that he is now our responsibility.
jwtraveler
@Jacob23: No we don’t have to do any of those things. We should just treat him with the decency and respect s/he deserves and that we expect for ourselves. It doesn’t matter what s/he has done for us. S/he is a human being who deserves our humanity, that is if you have any.
youarekiddingme
@McShane: Awesome Response! You have my respect sir!
youarekiddingme
@Jacob23: So, let me get this figured out…you get from this article about a man (who was a record breaking powerlifter) who has gender identity issues, now, somehow you come up with all of this crap:
“And because this guy has mental, gender and personality issues, LGBs have to pretend that they are “one people” with this guy? We have to reorder our political priorities and spend our limited resources in order to serve this guy and his many needs? We have to tell LGB youth that they will have to keep waiting for help with bullying and isolation because we need to celebrate some guy in a skirt with a civil war going on inside his head. Kroc probably never lifted a finger for LGBs prior to today, when he was walking around in jeans with his girlfriend on his arm. I wonder how many anti-gay jokes and smears he told to entertain his fellow power lifters. But “LGBT” would have us believe that he is now our responsibility.”
Just how the hell do LGB’s have to pretend anything? Is he asking any such thing? Reorder our political priorities? Spend limited resources to serve this guy? Blah, blah, Blah…..
Where did you draw these conclusions from? He isn’t asking for a thing from us (LGB’s).
As far as the remark about the “guy in a skirt”…that comment is total bullshit! You wouldn’t put up with any equivalent remark being made about a gay man or lesbian woman so knock that shit off! You’re wayyyy of base with that.
Do you know of any anti-gay jokes he said previously? Do you know about his gay family members…huh? If you don’t know about that then how would you possibly know (and say he probably never) lifted a finger for the LGB’s before today. Stereotypes and generalizations are dangerous things. That’s what has kept us down for so long….don’t stereotype someone else…
Jacob23
@youarekiddingme: I get that he has gender issues from his own statement. Click the link and read it. He says that he is “incredibly complex” and that he feels that he has 2 people inside him fighting for control. He also says that transitioning is “incredibly difficult” and that the process won’t resolve all of his “issues” without creating new ones. That, my friend, is a person with major issues. As for the rest of my comment, I wasn’t saying that he personally demanded anything of LGBs. But the bogus concept of “LGBT” instantly links him with us – even if he was anti-gay in the past and is anti-gay today. I am not saying that he is or was anti-gay. I don’t know. But “LGBT” doesn’t care either way. It forces us to identify with every hetero nutter with gender issues, even when those issues have nothing to do with being gay and even if the nutter himself is antigay.
Giancarlo85
Jacob is an exclusionary idiot who doesn’t realize trans people can be gay too. He thinks this is only something straight men do. Jacob shows his ugly face every time in articles like this one and like Smeds he has no real point. Jacob only goes off on the same ridiculous diatribes without any real proof.
And to think people suggest that this is fetish or just crossdressing. Are people on here really this stupid?
@Curty: You shouldn’t be giving any advice to trans people because your words could do far more damage. You don’t know shit about trans people or the struggles they go through. Look at yourself and how discriminatory you are being because you simply don’t like the way someone identifies. Do us all a favor and stop blabbering about your supposed trans friends. You sound like antigay people who say “I have gay friends… But… I don’t support equality because god told me so”.
Giancarlo85
And when people say “LGB” I just laugh. No such fucking thing. Stop making up acronyms because you are a bigoted ass. You don’t control anything.
Curty
Giancarlo85 shut up. I said he or any trans person should NOT be discriminated against. That sounds like someone who supports equality. So stfu. Trans people should have same rights as everyone else. I simply spoke out against these silly terms labels when all a person has to do is live their life without all of these extra labels. Alpha male transgender, girly girl. I mean it sounds a bit ridiculous. Just be you. And that’s what I say to us all. I’m a gay man but if people think in masc, fem that’s up to them. I don’t try to front or label myself. Sounds very confusing and neurotic. So once again, I denounce this thing calling me transphobic. It is simply not true. No I don’t know what its like to be trans. True but that doesn’t mean I’m against trans equality. I rebuke that remark and my actions in my life have shown that. You know nothing about me and what I’ve done for people, including transgender people. You have no idea. I have given money to trans groups. I have provided employment opportunities for trans people. Not sex work, because I think trans people are more than that. So for you to say that without knowing me is completely outrageous. Stfu.
youarekiddingme
@Giancarlo85: I was wondering…did you understand Jacob’s response to me at all? It made no sense whatsoever…I don’t speak lunatic!
Giancarlo85
@Curty: You are not in a position to give advice to ANYONE. You shut up and stop posting. Also please STOP giving advice when you have already demonstrated how FUCKED UP you are on this forum. You are a mentally unstable mess. I’ve seen it in your posts. You don’t know what you are and you take out your insecurities onto others. You are not trans and you have no business telling trans people what they should be doing or not. “Silly terms labels”… fucking bullshit. People have a RIGHT To describe themselves as they are. And they have a RIGHT to be true to themselves without hateful ignorant people like you judging them.
I don’t give a fuck what you are. All I know is you are NOT in a position to judge others or tell them what they should or shouldn’t do.
You’ve never given money to any group so stop your lying and trying to build yourself up.
Travis
Yuck!
