Some things we remember about being teenagers: angst, lots of angst; countless hours spent on the phone (followed by the revolutionary advent of AIM); hormones firing off like the 4th of July. Oh, and team sports were peripherally a thing, specifically campus football.
Calculating these elements against the new video for “On Hold” by British band The xx, and — hold on, the results are still rendering — ah yes, just as we expected. This is one totally youthful feelgasm, with the only modern twist being a reflection of today’s pansexual revolution.

The track is off the band’s forthcoming January album, and was shot in Marfa, Texas, which is an international hub for minimalist art, of all things.
How about we take this to the next level?
Our newsletter is like a refreshing cocktail (or mocktail) of LGBTQ+ entertainment and pop culture, served up with a side of eye-candy.

Nice pop song. The video is very cool, but raises lots of questions. Why is this British band at a high school in Texas? Did this high school agree to this video shoot or was it covert? Are these actors pretending to be Marfa football players or the actual team, who just finished their season 7-5?
While I’m sure their parents hate it, this just made Marfa the coolest high school in America.

I never spent countless hours on the phone. Of coarse that was before cellphones so impractical to say the least. Not sure what AIM is either. At any rate, very cool and song and video.

The song on its own without the video is bad.the video without the song is just as bad..all in all both are easy forgettable..confusing at best

@ChrisK AIM is probably AOL Instant Messaging, one of the early on-line chat services from the 90s.

Note that a British band is doing this. One wonders where the American bands are when it comes to depictions of male homosexual desire.
It’s really sad when American bands are reluctant to portray male homosexual desire. Shame on the music industry in America and its homophobia.

I just finished the book Draw The Line by Laurent Linn…also set in Texas, dealing with young folks of all orientations and love. Who knew?
