Nico Tortorella was in Austin last weekend to promote the new season of “Younger” at the ATX TV Festival. While there, they (since coming out at gender fluid, Nico goes by the they/them pronoun) took a moment to perform poetry from their new collection “all of it is you.”
100 or so people packed into the lobby of the Native Hostel in downtown Austin Saturday afternoon for what Tortorella called a “sound bath”, Page Six reports.
“Tortorella would record their voice and make it loop or echo in the background. Not too much in terms of music. They also distorted their voice to sound almost alien or robotic for some of the readings,” a spy told us of Tortorella.
The spy added, “Honestly felt a little bit like I was being hypnotized.”
Nico read their original poetry for almost two hours whilst barefoot and dressed in all white.
“They were going for a purity/natural vibe,” one attendee says. “They were barefoot. I was like, ‘Oh, we are going very spiritual guru here.'”
Another adds, “It was about God, but they were also kind of saying they were God.”
