Goodbye pointy Spock ears, hello rumpled ’40s suit. Star Trek‘s Zachary Quinto will portray Tom Wingfield in a new Broadway production of Tennessee Williams’ masterpiece The Glass Menagerie.
Quinto starred in an off-Broadway revival of Tony Kushner’s Angels in America in 2010, so Menagerie will mark the out actor’s debut on the Great White Way. The actor was considered a successful Winfield (considered a stand-in for the tortured gay Williams) in a smaller production outside Boston opposite two-time Tony Award-winning out actress Cherry Jones, who will again costar as his mother Amanda.
The latest revival is scheduled to begin 17 weeks of performances on September 5 in a theater still to be determined.

One of my favorite actors who can actually act.

Great casting, methinks!

Yeah, both for Zachary and Cherry. I wonder who’s playing Laura?

I was fortunate to see Quinto in Angels in America when it was at Roundabout. He was really great as Louis. I have to say that I was really impressed with his performance and found him to be even more attractive in person than he appears on tv.
And, the best part, he showed his ass and a frontal flash in the Central Park cruising scene. Nice little surprise.
I’ll go see him again now that he’s coming back to the stage in NY.
