Afternoon Aural: Sophie B. Hawkins

Damn it’s been a long time since we’ve heard Sophie B. Hawkins’, “Damn, If I Was Your Lover”. Grammatical error aside, this banned video for the Manhattan born songbird’s 1991 hit hits us where it hurts – in a good way, of course. In fact, we’re so overwhelmed by nostalgia, we have to have a little lay down. But not before we pass along a live version of another Hawkins hit: “As I Lay Me Down”.

The “Lay Me Down” video, we’ll note, comes straight from Hawkins herself. Record company Sony won’t share the embedding code for the studio version. Punks.
