Alan Cumming Gets Framed At New York’s Out NYC Hotel

The Out NYC is making a big statement for Pride weekend: In addition to the grand opening of Sean Connolly and Evan Kushner’s new restaurant, KTCHN, guests and visitors can enjoy a newly installed gallery show of photographs by actor-singer Alan Cumming, curated by Out NYC creative director Patrick Duffy.

On view are several large images by Cumming on loan from the Mantegna Gallery, including a self-portrait taken on the set of Cumming’s upcoming movie Any Day Now.

Representatives from the hotel tell Queerty that the partnership with Cumming is just the first in what will be regular series of art events and exhibitions. Beginning July 17, The Out will display the work of photographer Gilles Larrain, who will offer free portraits outside the hotel  on opening day (His show will be on view through August 17). And gallerist Ken Tyburski is launching an artist-in-residence program that will allow creative types to live and work at the hotel for three months.

We don’t see that happening at Best Western.
